MobileDemand FAQ's
The rugged handheld computer market is much different than the non-rugged computer market. MobileDamand rugged computers are designed for use by vertical markets that require our unique tablet pc's to brave the elements and abuse that happens in a normal work day. The computers are can get rained on, dropped, left in the heat or cold, and most any situation you can think of.
Because our rugged tablet pc's are meant for vertical markets and not typical consumers, this section of our website is dedicated to answering our customers most frequently asked questions.
Question: Do we offer an Applications Development Kit (ADK), a Software Development Kit (SDK) or do we have documentation to assist a customer in developing an application to interface with the tablet?
Answer: MobileDemand does not have an ADK or SDK currently. We do however, have a relationship with MobileFrame; a RAD (Rapid Application Development) solution. MobileFrame is a 'drop and drag' environment which assists in building applications using industry standards.
Question: How long does the battery last on the MobileDemand rugged tablet?
Answer: Most batteries in rugged tablets will last approximately two - three hours. MobileDemand's battery is 7,000 mAh Li-ION which will last five - seven hours without power management settings. Using minimum power management; the user should expect to gain a full days use of the rugged tablet.
Question: How long does it take to completely recharge the battery?
Answer: A MobileDemand battery should take approximately two - three hours to fully charge.
Question: What is the expected life of a battery in terms of charging cycles?
Answer: You can expect approximately a 20% loss of capacity after 200 full cycles - which would equate to about a year's worth of being used every business day. This would be common across Li-ION batteries in today's mobile computers (laptops, tablets). The battery should last several years, but expect to have some capacity drop over time. Keeping the battery cool during the summer months can greatly increase the lifecycle of any battery; MobileDemand mounting options can assist in this.

Answer: MobileDemand suggests using a non-abrasive cleaning substance (409, Glass Plus, etc.) and a soft cloth to clean the unit.

Answer: Yes. With the xTablet T8700, MobileDemand offers the option of either Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista.
Question: How can I clean the surface contact board on the bottom of the rugged tablet?
Answer: The surface contacts on the bottom are silver plated, which is common plating for electrical contacts. They will remain functional even with some discoloration on them. If desired, to properly clean the surface contacts, we recommend any readily available non-abrasive silver polish; many contain an anti-oxidizing agent that will slow future discoloration. A pencil eraser should not be used as that will completely erase the silver plating relatively quickly and corrosion will occur even faster and cause failures.
