MobileDemand Bounces Back After Derecho

On Monday, August 10, MobileDemand’s office in Cedar Rapids experienced severe destruction from hurricane conditions with 112 mph winds. You read that right. The landlocked state in the middle of the country suffered horrendous damage from a derecho: a line of intense, widespread and fast-moving windstorms.

Starting as a normal Monday morning in the office, the storm quickly blew into Iowa, shutting down power at MobileDemand headquarters. For almost an hour, employees waited in the dark lobby, watching the trees surrounding the office collapse while attempting to contact loved ones. After what seemed like hours, the storm finally ceased, but the damage was just beginning to show.

Hundred-year-old trees were ripped from the ground, power lines were draped over one another, and an airplane wing even lodged itself into the side of someone’s home. Nearly every building in the Cedar Rapids area suffered damage, and four days later, many are still without power or cell phone service.

Our office is also without power, but we are determined to continue to provide you and your business with the highest level of service possible. Management quickly found temporary space in a nearby convention center in Coralville where we have set up shop for the time being.

During this time of uncertainty, we thank you for your patience as we work through yet another adventure in this challenging year. Please contact us if you need assistance.
